ABEL ("we", "us") is a desktop application + cloud service for AI-assisted music production with Ableton Live. This policy describes what we collect, why, and what we do with it.

1. What we collect

Account information

• Your email address (used for sign-in via magic link and billing).
• A randomly generated device ID for the machine you install ABEL on. We don't read hardware identifiers.
• Subscription state (active / trialing / past due) mirrored from Stripe.

Usage data

• Per-request token counts and timestamps for AI calls (so we can enforce fair-use and monitor cost). We do not store the content of your chat messages, prompts, or generated audio on our servers.
• Anonymous error logs from the Cloudflare Worker that backs the cloud API.

Payment data

• Stripe handles all payment information. We never see or store credit card numbers; we only receive the result of a charge (success / fail) plus your Stripe customer ID.

Local data (stays on your machine)

• Your Ableton session state, notes, generated samples, and Live extension code stay on your local disk. They are sent to AI providers only when you explicitly invoke an action that requires them (e.g. chatting about your session).

2. Who we share data with

To deliver the product, we route AI requests through:

• Cloudflare Workers AI Gateway — proxies your requests and serves the cloud song generation (MiniMax Music 2.6) and image generation (used by the image-to-MIDI feature) models.
• Anthropic — provides the Claude model used for chat and action planning. Anthropic's data retention is governed by their commercial terms; we use their zero-retention API where available.
• Stripe — for billing and subscription management.
• Resend — for sending sign-in magic links to your email.

We do not sell your data. We do not share it with advertisers or analytics brokers. We will only disclose data if compelled by a valid legal request.

3. Cookies and tracking

The website (abel.audio) sets no analytics or advertising cookies. The desktop app stores a session token locally to keep you signed in.

4. Data retention

• Account records (email, subscription state) are kept while your account is active and for 90 days after cancellation.
• Usage logs are retained for up to 90 days for billing reconciliation and abuse detection.
• You can request full deletion of your account and associated data at any time by emailing hi@abel.audio.

5. Your rights

You have the right to access, correct, or delete the personal data we hold about you. We honor reasonable requests within 30 days. If you're in the EU/UK, we honor GDPR rights including portability and objection to processing.

6. Security

Transport security (TLS) is enforced on all API calls. Session tokens are random 32-byte values stored on your device. We never log or transmit credit card numbers.

7. Children

ABEL is not directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect data from anyone under 13.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the product evolves. Material changes will be flagged on this page and, where appropriate, by email to active subscribers.
